MG5050 feedback to REM2
« on: December 04, 2018, 10:25:37 am »
Hi

I am new to the forum and need some assistance with my mg5050 system.

We had a thunderstorm a few days ago after which the control panel gave me a communications error that I could not resolve from the keypad. I disconnected the power and battery after which the system functioned fine, except for the REM2 remotes.

I can use all 3 my remotes to arm and disarm the system, but the feedback and info button keeps giving me a flashing error with no status. Could the lightning have damaged the transmitter only or am I missing some thing?

I also noticed that the alarm company connected their earth wire to my neutral on the panel, not sure if this is right.

Hope you can help

Pierre

We have not seen something similar to this.
If the problem still persisted after restarting the panel, the panel has gone faulty

On earthing the control panel negatives it is not recommended.
Essentially you are grounding all negatives that lightning will like.
Only the metal box and control panel dailers(if used with land lines like Telkom) needs to be earthed.
